In this session, sponsored by Hallmarq Veterinary Imaging, Dr. Shannon Holmes discusses the diagnostic imaging modalities available to clinicians for spinal disease with respect to their benefits and limitations - specifically radiographs, CT and MRI. Case examples are used to demonstrate the value of different diagnostic modalities in relation to a patient's clinical presentation. The discussion includes both the value of diagnostic imaging tests to the diagnostic process and to determining treatment options and prognosis, as well as the value of these tests to clients relative to the cost. The goal of this session is to help in the consideration of value judgments in strategically planning diagnostic imaging for patients presenting with clinical signs related to their spine.
